The Handwriting Without Tears program at the AVID Learning Center has been implemented from the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum designed by Jan Olsen, an occupational therapist and handwriting specialist. Jan has worked for many years with children who have handwriting difficulties and has designed a program especially for them! The HWT program utilizes a multi-sensory format, which means that the children learn to write by using all of their senses. This helps them to remember letter formation and correct spacing rules easier while having fun learning! Research tells us that children learn best when teaching takes place in visual, tactile, and kinesthetic modes. Our instructors have been trained in this methodology and can put this program to work for your child!
